Commissioner's Cup

2009-10 Champion Determination

Commissoner's Cup / All Sports Award
Criteria for the Commissioner's Cup in 2009-10 shall be based on participation in eight men's sports and eight women's sports. Separate all-sports awards will be presented in men's and women's sports. Each all-sports award will be based on participation in eight of nine sports. The Commissioner's Cup award is determined by adding the totals of the two all-sports awards.

Baseball
The MIAA baseball championship shall be awarded on the basis of the best record of victories and losses of total league games played. The regular season champion will receive the league's automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.

Basketball (Men & Women)
The regular season champion is determined solely on percentage of games won and lost. The conference tournament champion will receive the league's automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.

Cross Country (Men & Women)
The MIAA men's and women's cross country championships shall be determined on a point system. The league Jamboree will carry one-third of the value in determining the seasonal champion while the league Championships will carry a two-thirds value.

Football
The MIAA football championship shall be awarded on the basis of the percentage of victories and losses of total league games played. The league champion will receive the automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.

Golf (Men)
The MIAA men's golf championships shall be awarded to the team finishing with the lowest cumulative strokes in all conference matches. The conference champion will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.

Golf (Women)
The MIAA women's golf championship shall be awarded to the team with the lowest cumulative strokes in six 18-hole rounds (four 18-hole Jamborees and two-day, 36-hole tournament) played in the Fall. The league's automatic berth in the NCAA tournament will be determined from three 18-hole rounds played in the Spring.

Soccer (Men)
The championship shall be based on a point system which awards three points for a win, one point for a tie, and zero points for a loss. League standings shall be determined on the basis of total points accumulated in regular league play. If two or more teams tie for first place at the end of the season, they shall be declared co-champions. The regular season champion will receive the league's automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.

Soccer (Women)
The MIAA women's soccer season is comprised of two components: single round robin regular season conference play and an end-of-season conference tournament. The MIAA championship is based on regular season competition where 3 points are awarded for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. The automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament is the team that wins the conference tournament.

Softball
The league champion shall be determined by double round robin regular season conference play. The automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament shall be determined by the outcome of the MIAA tournament.

Swimming (Men & Women)
The team score at the conclusion of the league championship meet will determine the MIAA swimming and diving league champion.

Tennis (Men)
The MIAA men's tennis championship shall be awarded on a point system which includes dual meet results and tournament results. Two points are awarded for each dual meet victory. In the MIAA tournament the number of points awarded for each place shall be determined by a formula giving the first place team the most points. Points shall be split in all cases where teams tie for places in the MIAA standings. The team compiling the most total points at the end of the season shall be declared the champion. If, for any reason, the MIAA tournament is not completed, the championship shall be based on the standings at the end of the dual season. The conference tournament champion will receive the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA championship.

Tennis (Women)
The MIAA women's tennis championship shall be awarded on a point system which includes dual meet results and tournament results. Two points are awarded for each dual match victory. In the MIAA tournament, the number of points awarded for each place shall be determined by a formula giving the first place team the most points. The team compiling the most total points during dual matches and MIAA tournament matches shall be declared the MIAA champion. If, for any reason, the MIAA tournament is not completed, and a winner is unable to be declared, the championship shall be based on the standings at the end of the dual season. The conference tournament champion will receive the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA championship.

Track (Men and Women)
The seasonal championship will be determined on the basis of the standings from a mid-season True Team Jamboree and a season-ending Championship Field Day with equal emphasis given to each.

Volleyball
The MIAA volleyball championship shall be based on the results of the regular season double round robin finish. Co-championships will be awarded. The standings in the double round robin will determine the seeding into the conference tournament. The MIAA tournament champion will receive the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament.
