Hope (20-3) earned two NCAA team victories before falling in the Regional Final last week to conclude the team's 2017 season. The Flying Dutch shut out St. Scholastica May 11, 5-0, before prevailing over host UW-Whitewater on Friday, 5-3. Hope then was knocked off by WashU in the Regional Final Saturday, 5-3.
In their opening round win over St. Scholastica, Hope swept doubles and added wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles; Nancy Benda was part of an 8-2 No. 1 doubles win to go with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.
Hope then followed with a 5-3 Second Round win over UW-Whitewater May 12, as the Flying Dutch overcame a 2-1 deficit after doubles to prevail. Claire Hallock was a two-time winner, aiding in an 8-4 No. 3 doubles win along with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles.
No. 11 WashU prevailed over Hope in the Regional Final May 13, 5-3. The Bears took a 2-1 lead after doubles and added three straight-set singles wins for the team win. Amanda Bandrowski tallied a 6-2, 6-3 No. 2 singles win.
