Calvin's Jacob Goodling Named to Scholar All-Region Team for Men's Soccer 1/2/2025 11:00:00 AM Share: -- Story provided by Calvin University Athletics -- Calvin University men's soccer senior Jacob Goodling was named to the United Soccer Coaches Men's Soccer Scholar All-North/Central Region Second Team on Wednesday. To be eligible for the honor, a player must be a junior or above in eligibility, maintain a 3.4 or higher grade point average (GPA), be in at least their second season at their institution, and play in at least 75 percent of their team's contests while also earning All-America, All-Region and/or All-Conference honors. Goodling (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day School) started at center back for the Knights and was a leading member of defense that posted eight shutouts in the 2024 season. On offense, he contributed four goals. Following the season, Goodling was named All-MIAA First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team. He was also named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree. In the classroom, Goodling is a philosophy major who carried a 3.66 GPA and plans to attend law school next fall. He is also a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and a four-time Calvin Dean's List honoree. Goodling and the Knights finished the 2024 season with a 14-6-2 record and earned their 10th straight trip to the NCAA III Men's Soccer Tournament.
