Thirty-One MIAA Golfers, Five Programs Earn Academic Recognition from WGCA

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Thirty-one golfers from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were announced as 2023-24 All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on July 1. Additionally, on July 16, five MIAA women's golf programs were ranked top-22 in Division III for their team GPAs.

The WGCA recognized a total of 1,497 women’s collegiate golfers from 412 programs in 2023-24.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players. To be selected, a student-athlete must:
  • Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
  • Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
  • Have played in 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
Trine University leads the conference with a total of eight All-American Scholars, while Hope College is represented by six golfers. Albion College, Calvin University, and Saint Mary's College all had four All-American Scholars recognized by the organization. Three golfers from Adrian College and two from The University of Olivet also made it onto the list of All-American Scholars.

Saint Mary's College, Adrian College, Trine University, Hope College, and Calvin University were the five MIAA programs that were announced on the 2023-24 WGCA Top 25 list for team GPAs. The Belles lead the league as the fifth-ranked team in Division III with a team grade-point average of 3.842. Adrian is fifteenth in the rankings with a team GPA of 3.680. Trine (3.644), Hope (3.642), and Calvin (3.639) finished in 20th, 21st, and 22nd, respectively.
