CHARLOTTE, Mich. -- History was made at Broadway Acres Golf Course as Trine University captured its first-ever MIAA Women's Cross Country Championship. Hosted by The University of Olivet in Charlotte, Michigan, the Thunder dominated the 2025 conference meet, scoring just 22 points — 33 fewer than runner-up Hope College — to secure a commanding and historic team victory.
Swick Leads Trine's Historic Day
Trine senior Sidney Swick capped off her conference career in style, winning the individual title in 21:07.9 to earn MIAA Most Valuable Runner honors. Her performance led a deep and experienced Trine lineup that placed five runners among the top seven finishers.
Hope senior Molly Durow claimed second place with a personal-best time of 21:36.2, while Trine senior Bailey Puckett finished third in a personal-best 21:42.0. Calvin University senior Sophie Bull placed fourth in 21:49.6, and Trine senior Chloe Goodrich rounded out the top five in 21:51.1.
Thunder Power Through the Field
Trine's strength continued as senior Eleanor Young finished sixth in 22:18.4, followed by sophomore Courtney Study in seventh with a time of 22:24.9. Kalamazoo College sophomore Nora O'Leary completed the All-MIAA First Team with an eighth-place finish, running a personal-best 22:26.1.
The All-MIAA Second Team was led by Calvin freshman Brynn Ellenbecker, who placed ninth in a personal-best 22:27.6, just ahead of her teammate and fellow freshman Emma Wierenga, who finished 10th in 22:27.7. Hope junior Mary England placed 11th in a personal-best 22:29.6, followed by Hope freshman Taylor Mitchell in 12th with a personal-best 22:29.7 and fellow freshman Dylan Ballin in 13th with a personal-best 22:30.0.
Calvin senior Catie Kramer earned 14th place with a personal-best 22:31.3, while Trine sophomore Grace Dubsky finished 15th in 22:33.0. Kalamazoo senior Maya Alkema rounded out the All-MIAA Second Team in 16th with a personal-best 22:41.5.
Trine's First Title and the Team Standings
Trine University left no doubt in its first conference championship performance in tallying 22 points. Hope finished second with 55 points, and Calvin followed closely in third with 56 points. Kalamazoo took fourth with 102 points, while Saint Mary's College, Alma College, Adrian College, Albion College, and Olivet rounded out the field.
