KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Seven Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) soccer programs have earned national recognition for their work in the classroom, as the United Soccer Coaches announced its 2024-25 College Team Academic Award recipients.
The award is presented annually to college soccer programs that achieve a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the academic year. This year, 753 teams nationwide — 307 men’s programs and 446 women’s programs — met the standard. Among those, 171 institutions saw both their men’s and women’s squads honored. Albion College and Calvin University were two of the MIAA schools to have both programs recognized, reflecting a shared commitment to academic achievement across their rosters.
On the men’s side, Albion College (3.41 GPA), Alma College (3.21 GPA), and Calvin University (3.33 GPA) earned the award. The women’s honorees included Adrian College (3.78 GPA), Albion College (3.48 GPA), Calvin University (3.52 GPA), and Hope College (3.70 GPA).
The recognition underscores the dedication and discipline of MIAA student-athletes, who balance demanding training and competition schedules with rigorous coursework. Earning the Team Academic Award is a testament to the collaborative effort between players, coaches, and support staff in fostering a culture that values both academic and athletic excellence.
By combining success on the pitch with high-level performance in the classroom, these MIAA programs continue to represent the conference proudly on a national stage.
