WACO, Tex. -- Alma College senior quarterback Carter St. John has been selected to the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, one of the most prestigious community service honors in college football.
This year’s team recognizes 22 student-athletes and one head coach nationwide for their extraordinary commitment to service and leadership off the field. The honorees were chosen from a record 195 nominees submitted by sports information directors and coaches across the country, spotlighting student-athletes who lead with purpose, from fighting substance abuse to creating opportunities for youth and families. Eleven of the selections, including St. John, represent the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), Divisions II and III, and the NAIA.
St. John’s selection reflects both his success on the field and his impact beyond the game. A three-time First Team All-MIAA pick and the 2023 Offensive MVP, St. John holds Alma’s career record for passing touchdowns. But what truly sets him apart is his heart for service.
After playing in Alma’s CARES game, St. John was inspired to launch QBs vs. Cancer, a nonprofit organization that brings college quarterbacks together to host youth clinics and raise money in an ongoing effort to defeat cancer. In just a short time, he has rallied more than 40 Division III quarterbacks and raised over $12,500, with proceeds going to causes that are personally meaningful to each player involved.
Fans can learn more about St. John’s story in his upcoming MIAA Student-Athlete Spotlight interview, which will be posted at noon on Friday, September 19.
