HOLLAND, Mich. -- Day three of the 2026 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships Presented by Collegiate Credit Union was held Friday at the Holland Aquatic Center, as teams competed in six events ahead of the final day of the four-day meet hosted by Hope College from February 18–21.
Hope opened the evening with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, touching in 1:41.46. The winning quartet included freshman Makenzie Baldwin, fifth-year senior Greta Gidley, freshman Claudia Busse, and senior Bella Turner. Calvin University finished second in 1:42.72 with senior Madi McNearney, junior Elise Bajwa, senior Elyse Radawski, and senior Meghan Bengelink, while Kalamazoo College placed third in 1:51.91 behind freshman Ani Bellows, senior Mary Muenzenmaier, senior Olivia Bagwell, and junior Jackie Stoddard.
Hope swept the 400 individual medley. Sophomore Emme D’Errico won the event in 4:24.06. Senior Katie Hermann placed second with a time of 4:27.63, and junior Anna Stolle finished third in 4:33.81.
Hope's Gidley added a victory in the 100 butterfly, winning in 55.45. Teammate Busse placed second in 57.20, while Kalamazoo's Bagwell finished third in 57.26.
Calvin junior Emma Merkel captured the 200 freestyle title with a time of 1:50.04. Hope senior Laurel Wasiniak finished second in 1:50.99, followed by teammate Turner in third at 1:54.74.
Hope's Gidley set an MIAA meet record in the 100 breaststroke, winning in 1:01.89 to surpass the previous mark of 1:02.72 set in 2009. Calvin's Bajwa placed second in 1:02.64, and Hope senior Madi Remenschneider finished third in 1:03.89.
Hope secured the top three spots in the 100 backstroke. Baldwin won in 56.29, junior Avery Bills placed second in 58.22, and classmate Madeline McGee finished third in 58.27.
After three days of competition, Hope leads the team standings with 874 points, followed by Calvin with 652. Kalamazoo sits third with 310 points, ahead of Alma College (284), Albion College (237), and The University of Olivet (87).
The championships conclude Saturday with preliminary heats beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 5:00 p.m. at the Holland Aquatic Center.
