FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- In a season defined by consistency and high-level play, Hope College and Calvin University women’s lacrosse have finished tied atop the MIAA standings, each posting a 6-1 conference record to share the 2026 regular-season championship.
For Hope, the title marks a fourth-consecutive MIAA crown, continuing a dominant run atop the league. Calvin, meanwhile, secures its fifth regular-season championship in program history, reinforcing its place among the conference’s elite.
Despite sharing the title, Hope will enter the 2026 MIAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament Presented by Collegiate Credit Union as the No. 1 seed with a 12-2 overall record, while Calvin (12-5 overall) will be the No. 2 seed. Both programs receive first-round byes and will host semifinal contests on Tuesday, April 28.
Hope’s success this spring was driven by a potent offense and disciplined defense. The Flying Dutch led the MIAA with 124 goals while allowing just 57, producing a league-best +9.6 scoring margin. They also topped the conference in turnovers (82) and draw controls (121), consistently controlling possession and tempo.
Individually, Hope featured several of the league’s top performers. Senior attacker Julia Brown led the MIAA with 28 goals (4.00 per game) and finished second with 39 points (5.57 per game). Senior midfielder Caleigh Randall dominated the draw circle, leading the conference with 51 draw controls (7.29 per game). Sophomore attacker Sarah Rott added playmaking with 18 assists, while senior goalkeeper Samantha Smith anchored the defense with a league-best 8.89 goals-against average.
Calvin countered with efficiency and strong defensive play, highlighted by a conference-leading .489 save percentage. The Knights also ranked among the top three in goals scored (116), goals allowed (67), scoring margin (+7.0), turnovers (100), and draw controls (117), showcasing a well-rounded approach on both ends.
Junior goalkeeper Hannah Rizzo headlined Calvin’s defense, leading the MIAA with a .491 save percentage. On the offensive side, senior attacker Morgan Bethard finished fourth in the league with 25 goals (3.57 per game), while senior attacker/midfielder Audrey Booher contributed across the board, ranking fourth in shots per game (7.67) and fifth in assists (15).
With the regular season complete, both teams now turn their attention to the postseason. The MIAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament begins with first-round games on Saturday, April 25, followed by the semifinals on April 28 and the championship on Friday, May 1. The tournament champion will earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, which begins May 9.
