FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced its 2026 Women’s Tennis All-MIAA award recipients, recognizing exceptional athletic achievement, sportsmanship, academic success, and leadership across the conference. Kalamazoo College junior Juliana Pullen has been named the Most Valuable Player, The University of Olivet sophomore Amelia Girard earned the Sue Little Award, and Trine University senior Alexis Maloney received the Karen Caine Award.
Most Valuable Player: Juliana Pullen, Kalamazoo
Kalamazoo junior Juliana Pullen has been selected as the MIAA Most Valuable Player after leading the Hornets to a 6-2 conference record and a tie for second place in the regular-season standings.
Competing at the top of Kalamazoo’s lineup, Pullen posted an impressive 7-1 record at No. 1 singles while also going 7-1 at No. 1 doubles alongside partner Addison Lyons. Her consistent excellence in both singles and doubles play helped position the Hornets among the conference’s top programs and reinforced Kalamazoo’s tradition of competitive success.
Sue Little Award: Amelia Girard, Olivet
Olivet sophomore Amelia Girard has been selected as the recipient of the Sue Little Award, an honor nominated by teammates and voted on by conference players. The award recognizes the student-athlete who best exemplifies courtesy and sportsmanship both on and off the court.
Named in memory of Sue Little, a 1954 Albion College graduate and conference singles champion, the award reflects the core values of integrity, respect, and character. Girard’s recognition by her peers highlights her exemplary representation of these ideals throughout the season.
Karen Caine Award: Alexis Maloney, Trine
Trine senior Alexis Maloney has been named the recipient of the Karen Caine Award, which honors a senior women’s tennis player who has lettered for at least two years while demonstrating outstanding academic and athletic achievement.
A Business Management major with a Marketing minor, Maloney has compiled a 3.8 undergraduate grade-point average and will also graduate with her MBA while maintaining a perfect 4.0 graduate GPA. Originally an engineering major, Maloney found her passion in business while continuing to thrive as one of Trine’s most accomplished student-athletes.
On the court, she ranks eighth all-time in singles wins at Trine with a 45-28 record and holds the program record for doubles victories with a 58-20 career mark, largely competing at the No. 1 doubles position. She is a three-time MIAA and Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete, earned Dean’s List or President’s List recognition every semester, and was named MIAA Athlete of the Week during her career.
Maloney’s leadership extends far beyond tennis. A three-year team captain, she serves as President of Trine’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where she has built partnerships with the Steuben County Special Olympics and organized numerous service initiatives. She also launched the inaugural Thunder Awards event to celebrate student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff. In addition, Maloney serves as Vice President of the MIAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, further expanding her influence and advocacy at the conference level.
Her campus and community involvement also includes serving as a Trine Athletics intern, Theta Phi Alpha sorority leader, Pickleball Club secretary, and active member of Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society and Chi Alpha Sigma. Through her sorority involvement, she helped raise more than $125,000 for breast cancer research while contributing over 300 community service hours. Her extraordinary combination of athletic achievement, scholarship, leadership, and service exemplifies the legacy of Karen Caine.
