Seven Straight: Trine Softball Continues Conference Dominance

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Trine University softball continued its remarkable run atop the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in 2026, capturing its seventh-consecutive regular-season championship and 15th in program history.

The Thunder finished conference play with a 14-2 record, securing the top seed in the 2026 MIAA Softball Tournament Presented by Collegiate Credit Union and once again establishing themselves as the conference’s premier program.

Trine’s success was fueled by a balanced combination of offensive firepower, defensive consistency, and dominant pitching throughout league play.

Leading the Thunder lineup was Tyra Marcum, who delivered one of the conference’s most impressive all-around performances. Marcum posted a .522 batting average and a staggering 1.841 OPS while totaling 24 hits, seven doubles, and a .645 on-base percentage. She also anchored the defense with 73 putouts.

Karley Trine and Macy Rocha each added 24 hits during conference action, helping maintain Trine’s consistent offensive production from top to bottom.

Emma Lee provided game-changing power, leading the Thunder with 26 runs scored, 10 home runs, 28 RBIs, and 57 total bases. Her 1.239 slugging percentage highlighted her ability to change games with one swing.

In the circle, Debbie Hill and Sydney Adolfson formed one of the MIAA’s most reliable pitching duos. Hill posted a 1.91 ERA with five wins and 26 strikeouts, while Adolfson recorded a 1.10 WHIP, five wins, two complete games, and 29.1 innings pitched against just 116 batters faced.

Together, Trine’s offensive depth and pitching stability allowed the Thunder to consistently outperform conference opponents while maintaining their championship standard.

With the regular-season title secured, Trine now turns its focus to postseason play. As the top seed, the Thunder enter the MIAA Softball Tournament Presented by Collegiate Credit Union with momentum and home-field advantage.

The tournament will take place May 6-8, where Trine will look to transform another dominant regular season into postseason success.
