BRIGHTON, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has recognized a record-breaking 2,079 student-athletes on the 2025-26 Academic Honor Roll, marking the first time in conference history that more than 2,000 student-athletes have earned the distinction.
The total surpasses the previous record of 1,970 honorees set during the 2024-25 academic year and marks the seventh-consecutive year that more than 1,500 MIAA student-athletes have been recognized for their academic achievement.
To qualify for the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average for the academic year while also earning a varsity letter in an MIAA-sponsored sport.
Hope College led the conference with 328 Academic Honor Roll selections, followed by Calvin University with 303 and Trine University with 273. Adrian College ranked fourth with 261 honorees, while Albion College rounded out the top five with 233.
The conference's commitment to excellence both in competition and in the classroom was further demonstrated by the versatility of this year's honorees. A total of 415 student-athletes earned varsity letters in multiple sports during the 2025-26 academic year, including 175 who were recognized as three-sport letterwinners.
Sustained academic success also remained a hallmark of the conference, as 1,086 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll for at least the second time in their collegiate careers.
Since establishing the Academic Honor Roll during the 1990-91 academic year, the MIAA has experienced steady growth in the number of student-athletes recognized annually, underscoring the conference's longstanding commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
