Albion Leads Seven MIAA Volleyball Programs Honored by AVCA

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Seven Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) volleyball programs were recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award for their success in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year.

A total of 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the distinction by maintaining a year-long team grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale).

Among the MIAA honorees, Albion College also received the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, an additional distinction recognizing programs that rank among the top 20 percent in team GPA within their respective division.

The seven MIAA institutions recognized include:

  • Adrian College – 11th consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award
  • Albion College – 14th consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award (Team Academic Honor Roll)
  • Alma College
  • Calvin University – 17th consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award
  • Hope College – 18th consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award
  • Saint Mary's College – 16th consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award
  • Trine University – 14th consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award

The MIAA has long been recognized for its emphasis on academic achievement, with its member institutions consistently earning national and conference academic honors across all sports. The seven volleyball programs honored by the AVCA continue that tradition by excelling both on the court and in the classroom.
