Brianne Blades Named Assistant Commissioner of the MIAA 12/19/2024 3:00:00 PM Share: FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Brianne Blades has joined the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) as Assistant Commissioner in December 2024. “Brianne Blades is a great addition to our leadership team as Assistant Commissioner,” commented MIAA Commissioner Jason Horn. “Her exceptional attention to detail and unwavering dedication to excellence and efficiency will undoubtedly drive the MIAA forward. Brianne's ideas and passion for fostering a positive environment will inspire the entire conference. We're excited to see the impact she will bring to our student-athletes, coaches, member institutions and campus communities.” Blades joined the MIAA from Florida Memorial University, where she spent five years as the Champions of Character Coordinator and Assistant to the Director of Athletics. Under her leadership, FMU earned Gold Status of the 2023-24 Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award. She additionally oversaw sponsorship fulfillment, managed the athletics budget, served as the liaison with the University business office, as well collaborating with various campus and community organizations on special projects and events. Prior to FMU, Blades spent five years with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins working with the Community Affairs department focusing on youth programs. Her tenure with the Dolphins included being a part of the team that developed and managed youth camps and programming along with managing the NFL game day experience. Blades was promoted to the Staff Lead in 2017 and joined the Senior Staff in 2018. "I am excited to join the MIAA family as the Assistant Commissioner," Blades stated. "I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Commissioner Horn and Associate Commissioner Lauren Bryne-Dunn for sharing their vision and energy for the future of the conference." Blades was born and raised in Plantation, Florida, with a strong family background in sports. She is a graduate of Albany State University and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management. She is a member of Women Leaders in Sports, NACDA, and the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) in which she currently serves on the MOAA Awards Committee.
