FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Hope College has taken the early lead in the 2024-25 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Commissioner’s Cup race, buoyed by top-three finishes in five of the six fall sports.
The fall update provides an unofficial glimpse at the Commissioner’s Cup standings. The award recognizes the cumulative performance of each member school across the league’s 23 sports: 11 women’s and 12 men’s. Each institution’s top-eight finishes per gender contribute to the final standings. The fall update reflects results from three men’s and three women’s sports.
Hope captured outright MIAA championships in football and volleyball, as well as a co-championship in men’s soccer. The Flying Dutchmen also secured a runner-up finish in men’s cross country, while the Flying Dutch were runners-up in women’s soccer. These performances earned Hope 48.5 points through the fall season.
Calvin University sits in second place with 44.0 points, bolstered by MIAA titles in men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and women’s soccer. Trine University is in third with 42.5 points, thanks to top-three finishes in men’s cross country, men’s soccer, women’s cross country, volleyball, and women’s soccer.
In the battle for fourth place, Albion College (31.5 points) holds a narrow lead over Adrian College (28 points), aided by third-place finishes in both football and volleyball. Adrian also achieved a top-three finish in women’s soccer.
Kalamazoo College (25.5 points) edged out Alma College (24 points) for sixth place. The University of Olivet (11.5 points) and Saint Mary’s College (11.5 points from three women’s sports) round out the standings following the fall season.
