HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- On July 12, 2024, Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Commissioner Chris Brown announced his resignation. Commissioner Brown, who has been a steadfast leader and advocate for collegiate athletics, is stepping down to pursue a new position in athletics administration.
Commissioner Brown's two years at the helm of America's First Conference have been marked by significant achievements and unwavering dedication to the MIAA's mission of fostering academic and athletic excellence. Under his leadership, the league has seen numerous improvements and increased support for its membership.
"Serving as Commissioner of the MIAA has been an incredible honor and a highlight of my career," said Brown. "Over the past two years, I've had the privilege of working alongside dedicated administrators, coaches, and student-athletes who embody the true spirit of Division III athletics. Together, we've made significant strides in enhancing the conference's operations, financial stability, and support for our student-athletes. While I'm excited about the new chapter ahead in my career, I leave with a deep appreciation for the MIAA community and full confidence in the bright future of this historic conference. I'm committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will always remain a proud supporter of the MIAA and its mission."
The MIAA has begun the process of identifying a new commissioner who will continue to advance the association's goals and uphold its values. To assist with the search, the MIAA has retained Kurt Patberg, Vice President of Sports Consulting at Mammoth.
