MIAA Claims Player, Freshman, and Coach of the Year in AVCA Region 7

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) was well represented in the 2025 AVCA All-Region 7 awards, as standout student-athletes and coaches from across the conference earned regional recognition following another highly competitive season. Hope College and Calvin University led the way with major awards, while six MIAA players were named to the AVCA All-Region First Team and one earned Honorable Mention.

Hope’s Lauren Lee Named AVCA Region 7 Player of the Year

Hope senior setter Lauren Lee added yet another prestigious honor to her decorated career, earning the AVCA Region 7 Player of the Year award. The reigning 2025 MIAA Most Valuable Player has been one of the conference’s most accomplished athletes since arriving on campus, beginning her career as the 2022 MIAA and AVCA Freshman of the Year.

A four-time First Team All-MIAA selection and four-time AVCA All-Region First Team honoree, Lee has also earned two AVCA First Team All-America awards and was named an AVCA Second Team All-American in 2023.

This season, she helped guide the Flying Dutch to an undefeated 8-0 league record and the MIAA regular-season championship. Hope enters the NCAA Tournament with a 22-6 overall record behind Lee’s exceptional two-way production, which includes 135.5 points, 92 kills, 1,021 assists, 17 aces, 240 digs, a .900 reception percentage, and 48 blocks.

Calvin’s Sarah Bradley Earns AVCA Region 7 Freshman of the Year

Calvin’s Sarah Bradley was selected as the AVCA Region 7 Freshman of the Year after a breakout debut season. The outside hitter also claimed the 2025 MIAA Freshman of the Year award and earned All-MIAA Second Team recognition. Bradley played a major role in helping the Knights secure the 2025 MIAA Volleyball Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Calvin enters the postseason with a 7-1 conference record and a 25-3 overall mark.

Calvin’s Amber Warners Named AVCA Region 7 Coach of the Year

Calvin head coach Amber Warners continued to add to her legendary résumé, earning AVCA Region 7 Coach of the Year honors. Now in her 24th season leading the Knights, Warners has established Calvin as one of the premier programs in NCAA Division III volleyball.

A Calvin graduate, Warners is a four-time AVCA National Coach of the Year (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014) and has guided the Knights to 20 NCAA Tournament appearances. With a remarkable career record of 702-119, she has also led Calvin to 16 MIAA Tournament championships, including this year’s conference tournament crown.

Six MIAA Players Earn AVCA All-Region First Team Recognition

The MIAA placed six student-athletes on the AVCA All-Region 7 First Team, reflecting the league’s depth, balance, and high-level performances throughout the 2025 season. Honorees include:

  • Aerin Baker, Calvin – Senior outside hitter

  • Kamryn Burbridge, Hope – Junior middle blocker

  • Emma Ekblaw, Calvin – Senior middle blocker

  • Carly Frank, Albion – Junior return specialist

  • Lauren Lee, Hope – Senior setter

  • Olivia Wyma, Hope – Sophomore middle blocker

Bradley Also Named AVCA Honorable Mention

In addition to her Freshman of the Year honor, Calvin’s Sarah Bradley earned AVCA All-Region 7 Honorable Mention recognition, capping an impressive first collegiate season.
