FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced its Athletes of the Week for the period covering November 17-23. Each week throughout the academic year, the conference recognizes standout performances from student-athletes across its member institutions.
The MIAA Athlete of the Week honors are selected from nominations submitted by head coaches at each school. These awards spotlight the top individual efforts in competition and showcase the high level of play within the conference.
Selections are released every Monday at 4:00 p.m., with the exception of weeks impacted by federal holidays.
MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week - Logan St. Martin, Alma College
Junior forward Logan St. Martin had a career-high game in Alma's 77-65 victory at Manchester with a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds. St. Martin shot 11-of-12 (.917) from the field, 2-of-3 (.667) from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 (1.000) from the foul line. St. Martin currently leads the league with a field-goal percentage of .750 (21-of-28).
MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week - Anna Richards, Hope College
Sophomore guard Anna Richards helped lead the Flying Dutch to a 3-0 week, highlighted by wins over Alma (85-59), Carthage (80-52), and No. 10 Illinois Wesleyan (76-73). Richards earned MVP honors at the Michele Schoon Classic after a strong three-game stretch, opening with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 22 minutes against Alma. She followed with 17 points, six rebounds, an assist, and two steals in 23 minutes versus Carthage, then capped the weekend with a standout performance against nationally-ranked Illinois Wesleyan, recording 17 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and two steals. Richards currently ranks among the league’s top five in field goals (31), three-pointers (9), points (78), defensive rebounds (33), total rebounds (45), assists (24), and steals (12).
MIAA Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week - Everett Cox, Hope College
Sophomore Everett Cox turned in some of the nation’s top times this weekend in his primary events, earning A-final appearances in two races at Kenyon’s Total Performance Invitational. He placed eighth in the 500 freestyle on Thursday with a career-best 4:34.31, a mark that currently ranks 14th in Division III. On Friday, he followed with a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle, posting an NCAA B-cut time of 1:38.94, which stands eighth nationally.
MIAA Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week - Emme D'Errico, Hope College
Sophomore Emme D'Errico delivered a historic weekend for Hope at the Kenyon Total Performance Invitational. Her biggest moment came Saturday, when she broke a 32-year-old school record in the 200 butterfly during prelims and lowered it again in finals, finishing in 2:03.90. That time would have earned an invite to last year’s NCAA Championships, and currently stands fifth in Division III. Earlier in the meet, she earned an NCAA B cut and a second-place finish in the 400 IM with a 4:27.75, a time that ranks sixth nationally. She also posted another career best in Thursday’s 200 IM, touching in 2:05.89, which ranks 14th in the country.
MIAA Wrestling Athlete of the Week - Trenden Bashore, The University of Olivet
Freshman Trenden Bashore went 4-0 in varsity duals and was the Olivet’s only undefeated wrestler across all four matchups at the Comet Duals. His performances were crucial to the team’s 4-0 sweep, including victories over two regionally ranked opponents in the latest NWCA Division III poll: Colin Hering of Heidelberg and Alex Crane of John Carroll. He also contributed a major decision against Wilmington (OH) and a decision against Mount Union (OH). Olivet was the only team to finish the day unbeaten at 4-0.
