Calvin’s Uchenna Egekeze Sweeps 2025 MIAA Basketball Honors; All-MIAA Announced

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Following the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) men's basketball regular season, the conference’s eight head coaches voted on All-MIAA awards.

Calvin University graduate student Uchenna Egekeze dominated the accolades, earning both the 2025 MIAA Most Valuable Player and 2025 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year titles after leading the Knights to an undefeated conference record. The forward is now a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and a four-time All-MIAA honoree.

In conference play, Egekeze led the Knights with 33.1 minutes per game, 79 field goals made, 28 offensive rebounds, 32 steals, and 13 blocks. He also contributed 48 free throws, 216 points (15.4 ppg), 72 defensive rebounds, and 29 assists, finishing with a .564 field-goal percentage.

Hope College’s Gabe Quillan earned All-MIAA honors for the third time in his career. Four players are now two-time All-MIAA selections: Adrian College's Nick Seifert, Calvin's Owen Varnado, The University of Olivet's Conner Schipper, and Trine University's Emmanuel Megnanglo.
