MIAA Baseball Teams Recognized with ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Five Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball programs have been recognized among the nation’s best for their success in the classroom, earning the 2024-25 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.

Adrian College, Albion College, Calvin University, Kalamazoo College, and Trine University were among the honorees announced by the ABCA.

The award recognizes ABCA member programs from all levels of high school and collegiate baseball that achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2024-25 academic year. This year, more than 440 college programs were honored for their academic achievements.

To be eligible, teams had to meet several criteria, including having a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.00 during the academic year. In addition, the team’s head coach must be an active ABCA member. Coaches were able to nominate their programs for recognition following the conclusion of the spring semester prior to the July 18 deadline.

The ABCA has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.

With five institutions honored, the MIAA continues to showcase the balance its student-athletes strike between competitive play on the diamond and commitment to academic achievement.
