From Fast Lanes to High Grades: MIAA Men's Track & Field Earns USTFCCCA Awards

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Men’s track and field student-athletes and programs from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were recognized nationally for their dedication to both academic and athletic excellence, as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2025 All-Academic Athletes and Teams.

Seventeen individuals across four MIAA schools earned All-Academic Athlete honors, awarded to student-athletes who maintained at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average while also ranking among the top competitors nationally during the season.

Albion College was represented by Will Davis and Eddie Hines, both excelling on the track while meeting the high academic standard. Calvin University led the conference with six honorees: Corbin DeBoer, Ben Habers, Bob Horton, Connor Lubberts, Luke Nguyen, and Koby VanderWoude. Hope College added six of its own, with Alexander Daniels, Joshua Ennen, Lucas Guidone, Erickson Kunzler, Ian Petruska, and Connor Vachon earning the award. Trine University rounded out the group with Max Harris, Ethan Spahr, and Max Van Huis recognized for their achievements.

In addition to the individual honors, six MIAA programs were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, an award given to programs maintaining a combined grade-point average of at least 3.10. Calvin University led the way with a 3.43 team GPA, closely followed by Hope College at 3.427. Trine University (3.321) and Alma College (3.3) also earned recognition, while Albion College (3.1) and The University of Olivet (3.13) were honored as well.

These awards highlight the balance MIAA student-athletes strike between competition and coursework, underscoring the conference’s tradition of excellence both on the track and in the classroom.
