MIAA Reveals 2026 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Honors

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced its 2026 Men’s Basketball All-MIAA award winners, recognizing outstanding individual performances from across the conference. Calvin University senior center Jalen Overway headlines this year’s honorees as the Most Valuable Player, while The University of Olivet junior guard Nathan Richardson has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year.

Most Valuable Player: Jalen Overway, Calvin

Calvin senior center Jalen Overway has been selected as the MIAA Most Valuable Player for the third time, adding to previous honors earned in 2023 and 2024. A three-time First Team All-MIAA selection, Overway entered the year as a D3hoops.com Preseason All-America First Team pick and was recently named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 50 Watch List, which recognizes the top player across NCAA Division II, Division III, and NAIA men’s basketball.

Overway earned MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors three times this season and was selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on January 19. He helped guide the Knights to a 10-4 conference record and an 18-7 overall mark heading into the 2026 MIAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

In conference play, Overway led the league in scoring with 24.7 points per game and 346 total points while also pacing the MIAA with 81 made free throws, 129 made field goals, and a field-goal percentage of .645.

Defensive Player of the Year: Nathan Richardson, Olivet

Olivet junior guard Nathan Richardson has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honor. A two-time All-MIAA honoree, Richardson was named to the 2025 Second Team and elevated to the 2026 First Team after a standout season on both ends of the floor.

Richardson played a key role in leading the Comets to their first outright MIAA regular-season title since 1972. He was named MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on February 2 and finished conference play as the league leader with 33 steals, 2.4 steals per game, 487 minutes played, and 34.8 minutes per game. He also ranked among the conference’s top five in assists (61), assists per game (4.4), made field goals (81), and field-goal percentage (.513).
