Olivet's Hargraves Named NABC District Co-Coach of the Year; Three MIAA Players Honored

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Several standouts from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were recognized with All-District 7 honors by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), as voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division III.

All players selected to the All-District teams are eligible for NABC All-America honors, which will be announced March 18. The NABC National Coach of the Year will be released Thursday, March 19.

Sam Hargraves of The University of Olivet was named the District 7 Co-Coach of the Year after leading the Comets to one of the program’s most successful seasons in recent history. Olivet posted a 15-10 overall record, including a 12-2 mark in MIAA play to capture the outright regular-season conference title. The championship marked the program’s first outright title since 1972 and only the sixth in program history. Hargraves was recently announced the 2026 MIAA Men's Basketball Coach of the Year following the historic season.

Senior center Jalen Overway of Calvin University earned All-District 7 First Team honors for the third time in his career. Overway averaged 23.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting an efficient .617 from the field. His efforts helped lead Calvin to a 19-8 overall record and a 10-4 mark in MIAA play. Overway continues to add to a lengthy list of accolades. He was named the NABC District Player of the Year following the 2023-24 season and earned NABC All-America recognition following both his freshman and sophomore seasons (missed 2024-25 due to injury). The senior was also recently named the D3hoops.com Region 7 Co-Player of the Year and received First Team All-Region honors, marking his third career First Team All-Region selection. Overway is a three-time MIAA Most Valuable Player and three-time First Team All-MIAA honoree. Earlier in his career, he earned the 2022-23 D3hoops.com Rookie of the Year award and was named a 2023-24 D3hoops.com First Team All-American. He also entered the 2025-26 season as a D3hoops.com Preseason All-American.

Junior forward Parker Hovey of Hope College was selected to the All-District 7 Second Team after helping guide the Flying Dutchmen to an 18-10 overall record, an 11-3 conference mark, and the 2026 MIAA Men’s Basketball Tournament championship. Hovey averaged 16.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.96 assists per game while also contributing 2.0 blocks and 1.8 steals per contest. He was recently named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 7 First Team and is a two-time All-MIAA honoree, earning First Team recognition in 2026 after being named to the Second Team in 2025.

Junior guard Nathan Richardson of Olivet also received All-District 7 Second Team honors. Richardson averaged 14.6 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting .519 inside the arc and .375 from three-point range. Earlier during the Comets' historic season, he reached the 1,000 career points milestone. Richardson was named the 2026 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and helped lead the Comets to a 15-11 overall record and a 12-2 conference mark, securing Olivet’s first outright MIAA regular-season title since 1972. He is also a two-time All-MIAA honoree.
