Hope College's Gibson Heethuis has been chosen for the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association NCAA Division III Team of the Week.

The junior from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville), is receiving the national accolade for the first time after being one of 10 selections nationwide.

Heethuis, who plays attack, sparked the unbeaten Flying Dutchmen to wins against Albion College and Calvin University last week that clinched at least a share of a third consecutive MIAA regular-season title. The victories extended Hope's winning streak to 15 games for the second time in program history and the first time since 2018.

The biology major contributed a team-leading 19 points over two games by scoring 10 goals and recording nine assists. Heethuis also grabbed six ground balls and caused four turnovers.

On Monday, Heethuis was named the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week.
