BRIGHTON, Mich. — The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Presidents’ Council has announced the appointment of Lauren Bryne-Dunn as Commissioner of the MIAA, effective October 1, 2026. Bryne-Dunn has served as Interim Commissioner since July 2026 and will become the 12th commissioner in the history of America’s First Conference.

“Lauren has provided great service to the MIAA over the past six years in progressively more impactful roles, as Assistant Commissioner, Associate Commissioner, and most recently as Interim Commissioner,” said Dr. Steven Corey, Chair of the MIAA Presidents’ Council and President of The University of Olivet. “The MIAA Presidents’ Council is pleased to remove the interim title and looks forward to her leadership and working in partnership with her as commissioner for many years to come.”

Bryne-Dunn began her career with the MIAA as Assistant Commissioner on August 1, 2020. She was promoted to Associate Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator in July 2024 before assuming the role of Interim Commissioner in July 2026.

“I am incredibly honored to serve as Commissioner of the MIAA,” said Bryne-Dunn. “The MIAA has been such an important part of my professional journey over the past six years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our member institutions, student-athletes, coaches and administrators in this role. I care deeply about this conference and the people who make it special, and I am excited to build on the strong foundation that exists while continuing to move the MIAA forward.

I look forward to working alongside our presidents, athletic directors and campus leaders to provide consistency, strengthen our conference and create an exceptional experience for our student-athletes. It is a privilege to lead America’s First Conference, and I am excited for what we can accomplish together.”

In addition to her responsibilities with the MIAA, Bryne-Dunn has established a strong presence in NCAA Division III and the broader college athletics community. She has been a member of the Division III Assistant Commissioners Group (D3ACG) since August 2020 and served as Second Vice Chair of the organization’s Executive Board during the 2025-26 academic year.

For the past three years, Bryne-Dunn served as the MIAA’s Regional Advisory Committee representative for Division III Men’s Tennis. She has also served on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Professional Development and Continuing Education Committee, CSC Mentorship Committee and D3ACG Professional Development Committee.

Bryne-Dunn was named to the CSC 30 Under 30 Class of 2024 and subsequently selected to serve on the CSC 30 Under 30 Selection Committee for the Class of 2025.

Her leadership development and service within NCAA Division III have included participation in the 2023 NCAA Division III Senior Woman Administrator Program, the NCAA Division III Inclusive Leadership Workshop Facilitator program, the 2025 NCAA Fall Summit and NCAA Impact Forum, and the 2025-26 CSC Inclusion Fellowship. She was also selected to participate in the 2026-27 NCAA Pathway Program, a national leadership development program designed to prepare emerging leaders for senior-level positions within college athletics.

As Commissioner, Bryne-Dunn will oversee the MIAA office and work in partnership with the conference’s nine member institutions to advance the association’s mission, support student-athletes and strengthen the conference’s position as a leader in Division III athletics.

“I am excited to begin this next chapter with the MIAA,” Bryne-Dunn said. “There is tremendous opportunity ahead for our conference, and I am looking forward to continuing to listen, collaborate and work together with our institutions to make the MIAA the best conference it can be for our student-athletes.”

Founded in 1888, the MIAA is the nation’s oldest collegiate athletic conference and currently consists of nine NCAA Division III member institutions: Adrian College, Albion College, Alma College, Calvin University, Hope College, Kalamazoo College, The University of Olivet, Saint Mary’s College, and Trine University. The MIAA sponsors 23 sports across men’s and women’s athletics.
