INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Hope College men’s cross country team is headed to the NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country Championship after earning an automatic berth with its victory at the NCAA regional meet over the weekend. In order to be eligible for nationals, teams and individuals were required to qualify through their respective regional championships, which were held across the country.
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in the NCAA championship meet. Each of the 10 regions produced one automatic qualifier—the top seven-person team—while 22 additional squads received at-large selections to complete the national field. The Flying Dutchmen secured their place by winning the regional title outright.
A total of 70 individuals also qualified for the national championship as the first seven finishers from each region who were not part of a qualifying team.
