Olivet’s Brandon Brissette Named 2025 MIAA Wrestling Coach of the Year

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The University of Olivet’s head wrestling coach, Brandon Brissette, has been named the 2025 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Wrestling Coach of the Year. This prestigious honor comes after Brissette guided the Comets to a flawless 4-0 conference record and their fifth league championship since 2019.

"This is not A Coach of the Year award," commented Brissette. "To me it is the Staff of the Year award. I could not have the success that this team has had without coach Jones, coach Paquette, coach Neal, and coach Judge."

Brissette, now wrapping up his sixteenth season at the helm of Olivet’s wrestling program, has been instrumental in sustaining a culture of excellence. Under his leadership, the Comets have continued to dominate the conference, consistently producing top-tier athletes and championship-caliber performances. This season, five Olivet wrestlers earned All-MIAA status, further solidifying the program’s strength and depth.

“As for how this team accomplished this feat..." Brissette commented, "We talked to them about a loving and energetic culture, and they chose to embrace it. I am very proud to accept this award on behalf of these men and my staff."

Brissette’s impact on Olivet’s wrestling program extends far beyond wins and titles. His ability to develop talent, foster a winning mentality, and build strong relationships within the wrestling community has made him a respected figure both at Olivet and throughout the MIAA.

The Comets will return to action at the NCAA Regional Meet hosted in Wabash, Indiana, February 28 and March 1.
