Athlete of the Week - March 24, 2025

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced the Athlete of the Week awards for the week of March 17-23.

The MIAA Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by head coaches and released each Monday at 4:00 p.m. (unless a federal holiday).

MIAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week - Jacob Davis, Kalamazoo College
Senior pitcher Jacob Davis earned his second complete-game shutout of the season with an 11-0 victory at DePauw. In nine innings pitched, Davis totaled six hits, zero runs or walks, and 13 strikeouts. Davis currently leads the MIAA with three wins and two shutouts. He is also top three in the league with a 1.91 earned-run average, 28.1 innings pitched, six earned runs against and 36 strikeouts.

MIAA Baseball Position Player of the Week - David Kedrow, Adrian College
Senior utility player David Kedrow assisted the Bulldogs to a 2-1 record over the week, including a 15-3 victory over Heidelberg and a 19-14 win against Wittenberg. Kedrow finished the week 6-for-12 (.500) with eight runs batted in, four runs scored, and a pair of home runs. He also contributed 14 putouts and one assist. Kedrow is currently top ten in the conference with a .397 batting average, 63 at bats, 17 runs, 25 hits, 20 RBIs, and 34 total bases.

MIAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week - Cameron Bozyk, Adrian College
Sophomore Cameron Bozyk competed at The Ruckus in Williamsburg, Virginia, over the weekend. Bozyk shot 71 both rounds, which was two under par for the tournament, to tie-for-first.

MIAA Women's Golf Athlete of the Week - Melanie Maier, Saint Mary's College
Freshman Melanie Maier competed at the Washington Spring Invite, March 22-23. Maier tied-for-fifth individually out of 96 golfers. She shot 73 (+2) in the first round before the final round was rained out. After a slow start to her round, she birdied three of her last six holes to shoot 32 on the back nine.

MIAA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week - Sam Bowen, Hope College
Senior Sam Bowen moved from attack to midfield this week and keyed Hope's best offensive effort to date, helping the Flying Dutchmen to a 19-11 victory at Southwestern (TX). Bowen not only totaled two goals and two assists but created space for everyone else on his line which had a combined eight goals on the day. He is currently ranked sixth in the conference with 12 goals this season.

MIAA Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week - Audrey Booher, Calvin University
Junior attacker/midfielder Audrey Booher had a great week and was instrumental in both of Calvin's wins last week. Booher racked up 12 points with seven goals and five assists, including seven points in the Knights' highly competitive game against Baldwin Wallace. She also secured two ground balls and one caused turnover on the week as well. Booher is currently sixth in the league in both assists (10) and points per game (4.17), and 10th with 15 goals.

MIAA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week - Mason Levin, Trine University
Sophomore defender Mason Levin had an incredible week as the backbone of the Thunder's nationally-ranked defense. Against Oberlin, Levin helped hold his opponents to their lowest output of the season while also chipping in four groundballs and a highlight full-field goal against their ten-man ride. He also had a full-field assist to a streaking attackman late in the game. In the 14-2 victory at Washington and Jefferson, Levin played only three quarters but kept their leading scorer off of the stat sheet while chipping in four caused turnovers and six groundballs. Levin is currently ranked seventh in the MIAA with 15 caused turnovers.

MIAA Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week - Sophia Delgado, Saint Mary's College
Sophomore defender Sophia Delgado helped Saint Mary's to a 1-1 week, including a 17-5 victory at Anderson. Delgado had seven contested turnovers and six ground balls. She was a huge asset for the Belles' clears, allowing them to go 15-of-18 on clears in Saint Mary's win against Anderson. Delgado is currently ranked sixth in the MIAA with 1.67 caused turnovers per game.

MIAA Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week - Luke Wierengo, Hope College
Senior long-stick midfielder helped the Flying Dutchmen to a 19-11 win at Southwestern (TX). Wierengo not only scored a goal and grabbed two ground balls, but he neutralized his opponent's top midfielders and was disruptive all over the field. He ran the wing on faceoffs and created opportunities in transition for Hope as well.

MIAA Women's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week - Meghan Chang, Calvin University
Senior midfielder Meghan Chang had another standout performance last week in the 19-4 win against Illinois Wesleyan and in the 17-16 edge over Baldwin Wallace. She secured 12 draw controls in the last two contests, scooped up seven ground balls, and caused six turnovers. Between the two games, Chang had nine points with a healthy balance of six goals and three assists. Chang is currently ranked second in the conference with 15 caused turnovers and third with 38 draw controls.

MIAA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week - Rodrigo Alipio, Calvin University
Sophomore Rodrigo Alipio went undefeated against Bethel at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Alipio and his partner, Mario de Lima Neto, finished their doubles match last and clinched the doubles point for the Knights. They defeated Nicolo Marchetti and Santiago Flores with a score of 6-4. Alipio went on to notch a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Santiago Flores.

MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week - Juliana Pullen, Kalamazoo College
Sophomore Juliana Pullen went 4-0 on the week at No. 1 singles at No. 1 doubles. Pullen partnered with Ivy Walker to earn a 7-6 (8-6) edge over Macalester's Elizabeth Trevathan and Savannah Haugen. Pullen nearly blanked Travathan (6-0, 6-1) in their singles match. The next day, Pullen and Walker notched a 6-2 victory over Salem's Erna Brdarevic and Kylie Diaz. Pullen won her singles match against Salem by opponent retirement.

MIAA Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week - Liam Danitz, Hope College
Junior Liam Danitz participated in the Emory Spring Break Classic to open the outdoor season. Danitz ran the 100m dash in a time of 10.63 which is currently tied-for-seventh in the nation. He also leads the country at the moment with his time of 21.47 in the 200m dash. Danitz competed as a member of the 4x100m relay (41.61) which is currently ranked seventh in the nation.

MIAA Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week - Molly Durow, Hope College
Junior Molly Durow opened the outdoor season at the Emory Spring Break Classic. Durow completed the 800m run with a time of 2:19.43 which is currently ranked 18th in the nation. She is also ranked 26th in the nation after clocking in at 1:06.95 in the 400m hurdles.

MIAA Softball Position Player of the Week - Debbie Hill, Trine University
Junior Debbie Hill led Trine to a 4-0 record over the week, including a 2-0 record on the mound. Hill hit three home runs and slugged 1.714 with an on-base percentage of .714. She also scored six runs, seven runs batted in and was walked seven times. Hill currently leads the league with an OPS percentage of 1.621, 11 home runs, 32 RBIs, 56 total bases, a slugging percentage of 1.098, and 12 walks.

MIAA Softball Pitcher of the Week - Alexis Michon, Trine University
Senior pitcher Alexis Michon was 2-0 on the week with one save. In the 14-0 shutout against Ohio Northern, Michon pitched five innings and totaled zero walks with seven strikeouts for a perfect game. In seven innings pitched during game one at Illinois Wesleyan, Michon had a 2.00 earned-run average with 10 strikeouts. Michon came in for the save in game two of the doubleheader, assisting the Thunder to a 6-5 edge over Illinois Wesleyan. Michon currently leads the league with an ERA of 1.43, seven wins, three shutouts, and 55 strikeouts.
