Austin Hunt Claims MIAA Coach of the Year After Flying Dutch Soar Through Regular-Season and League Tourney Play Undefeated

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Hope College head coach Austin Hunt has been named the 2025 MIAA Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year following a standout season that added to the Flying Dutch’s storied legacy.

Hunt guided Hope to a flawless 8-0 record in league play, capturing the program’s second-consecutive MIAA regular-season title and the 30th in program history. The Flying Dutch followed it up by securing the MIAA Tournament crown for the 13th year in a row, earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

In his fourth season at the helm, Hunt led Hope to a 19-7 overall record, with the campaign concluding in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against 21st-ranked Gustavus Adolphus.

Three Flying Dutch players earned spots on the 2025 All-MIAA First Team, including junior Amanda Lopykinski, who was named MIAA Most Valuable Player for the second-consecutive year.

"I'd like to thank my peers in the MIAA for awarding me this honor," commented Hunt. "I truly appreciate working with all of you and representing the MIAA well. I'd also like to thank my athletic administration for backing me throughout my time at Hope and helping me build these programs up. Lastly, I'd like to thank my players who, without their work and dedication, I most certainly wouldn't be in the position that I am. Go Hope!"

Hunt’s Coach of the Year honor reflects not only another season of competitive excellence, but also a continuing tradition of success, development, and leadership within the Hope women’s tennis program.
