FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced Wednesday, August 6, that a record-breaking 1,970 student-athletes from its nine member institutions have been named to the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
This year’s total surpasses the previous record of 1,803 set in 2023-24 and marks the sixth-consecutive year that over 1,500 student-athletes have earned the academic distinction.
To qualify for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average for the academic year and earn a varsity letter in an MIAA-sponsored sport.
Hope College led all institutions with 318 honorees, followed by Calvin University with 308 and Trine University with 283. Albion College placed fourth with 220 selections, while Adrian College rounded out the top five with 201.
In addition to their academic achievements, MIAA student-athletes continued to excel athletically. A total of 359 student-athletes earned varsity letters in multiple sports, while 137 were recognized as three-sport letterwinners during the 2024-25 academic year.
More than 1,110 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll for a second year or more, demonstrating sustained academic excellence across their collegiate careers.
Since first recognizing the Academic Honor Roll in 1990-91, the MIAA has seen its numbers steadily increase, reflecting the conference’s commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
