Albion’s Trudell, Calvin’s Schnurstein Earn D3football.com Team of the Week Honors

Two MIAA student-athletes turned in game-changing performances last weekend, and their efforts were recognized nationally as Albion College’s Alex Trudell and Calvin University’s Carson Schnurstein were both named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Trudell, a sophomore running back, powered Albion to a dramatic two-overtime win against Bluffton. He consistently broke through the defense, averaging nearly seven yards per carry while finding the end zone three times on the ground. His impact didn’t stop there, as he added four receptions for 67 yards, including a touchdown through the air, giving him four total scores on the day. The performance showcased his ability to make plays in multiple ways and kept the Britons’ offense moving when it mattered most.

On the defensive side, Schnurstein led the charge for Calvin in a home victory over Concordia (Wis.). The sophomore linebacker posted a team-high 14 tackles, including seven solo stops and two tackles for loss. His presence was felt throughout the contest, especially in the second half when the Knights held Concordia scoreless and limited them to just 105 yards of offense. Schnurstein’s leadership and relentless pursuit of the ball helped set the tone for a defense that controlled the game down the stretch.

The recognition marks the first Team of the Week honor this season for both Trudell and Schnurstein, highlighting the impact MIAA student-athletes continue to make on the national stage.
