FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced its 2026 Women’s Basketball All-MIAA award winners, recognizing exceptional performances from across the conference. Albion College junior guard Meghan Trewhella has been named the Most Valuable Player, while teammate Ava Guilford earned Defensive Player of the Year honors, marking a standout season for the Britons on both ends of the court.
Most Valuable Player: Meghan Trewhella, Albion
Albion junior guard Meghan Trewhella has been selected as the MIAA Most Valuable Player after leading the Britons to an 11-5 conference record and an 18-7 overall mark entering the 2026 MIAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Trewhella earned MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors four times during the season and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on November 25. She also secured a place on the 2026 All-MIAA First Team following her outstanding campaign.
During conference play, Trewhella led the league with 315 total points and 19.6 points per game, while also pacing the MIAA with 110 made field goals and 87 made free throws. Her scoring consistency and leadership were key factors in Albion’s success throughout the season.
Defensive Player of the Year: Ava Guilford, Albion
Albion senior guard Ava Guilford has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring the Britons’ defense throughout conference play. Guilford earned All-MIAA Second Team recognition in 2026 and led the league with 604 minutes played, 41 steals, and 2.6 steals per game in conference action. She also ranked among the conference’s top three with 57 assists and 3.6 assists per game, demonstrating her all-around impact on the game.
