Kalamazoo Men’s Tennis Secures Seventh-Consecutive MIAA Tournament Crown

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Kalamazoo College men’s tennis once again proved itself as the class of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), capturing the 2026 MIAA Men’s Tennis Tournament Presented by Collegiate Credit Union title for the seventh-consecutive season.

After securing the tournament’s top seed with a perfect 7-0 conference record and earning a first-round bye, the Hornets continued their dominant run through postseason play with victories over Trine University and Hope College to claim the championship and the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Kalamazoo opened tournament competition with a commanding 4-0 semifinal win over Trine, setting the tone early in doubles play. Sophomore Cameron Crosby and junior Alex Fleming secured a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while sophomores Sebastian Courtright and Will Seymour matched that score at No. 2 doubles to give the Hornets the opening point.

In singles action, Crosby earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, sophomore Derek Blackwell delivered a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles, and Seymour secured a 7-6(7-2), 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.

In the championship match against Hope, Kalamazoo faced early adversity after the Flying Dutchmen claimed the doubles point. However, the Hornets responded with a dominant singles performance to secure a 4-1 victory.

Crosby and Fleming provided a doubles win at No. 1 before Crosby led the comeback in singles with a hard-fought 7-6(7-3), 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles. Fleming had a decisive 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, while Blackwell was nearly flawless in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 3 singles. Seymour added a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles.

Throughout the tournament, Kalamazoo’s combination of depth, composure, and championship experience proved unmatched.

Now 15-5 overall, the Hornets advance to the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament as the MIAA’s automatic qualifier. The NCAA selection show is scheduled for May 4, with the first three rounds set for May 8-10.

With seven-consecutive tournament titles and another dominant season in the books, Kalamazoo men’s tennis continues to define excellence in the MIAA while setting its sights on national competition.
