Championship Performances Define 2026 Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Awards

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced its 2026 Men’s Outdoor Track and Field All-MIAA award recipients following an outstanding championship meet. Albion College senior Cooper Bright has been named the Most Valuable Track Athlete, while The University of Olivet junior Owen Fremeau earned Most Valuable Field Athlete honors after exceptional performances at the 2026 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Presented by Collegiate Credit Union.

Most Valuable Track Athlete: Cooper Bright, Albion

Albion senior Cooper Bright delivered a standout two-day performance to earn Most Valuable Track Athlete honors at the conference championships. Bright captured the MIAA title in the 200m dash with a winning time of 21.64 and added a third-place finish in the 100m dash at 10.66.

He also played a crucial role in Albion’s second-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay, running the anchor leg for a team that posted a time of 41.74. Bright’s speed, consistency, and ability to contribute across multiple sprint events were instrumental in Albion’s championship success.

Most Valuable Field Athlete: Owen Fremeau, Olivet

Olivet junior Owen Fremeau delivered a dominant performance in the field events, earning Most Valuable Field Athlete honors after scoring 22 points for the Comets. Fremeau captured conference titles in both the shot put and hammer throw while also placing seventh in the discus.

His hammer throw mark of 61.03m set a new MIAA meet record and currently ranks third nationally, highlighting his elite status on the national stage. Fremeau also secured victory in the shot put with a mark of 17.24m and added a discus throw of 44.86m.
