INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) teams have qualified for the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championship following standout performances at their NCAA regional competitions over the weekend: Trine University, Calvin University, and Hope College. In order to advance to the national meet, teams and individuals were required to earn qualification through their respective regional championship races.
A total of 32 teams were selected for the championship field. Each of the 10 regions produced one automatic qualifier, awarded to the top seven-person team, while 22 additional programs received at-large bids based on their season and regional results. Seventy individuals, the top seven finishers in each region who were not part of a qualifying team, were also selected to compete.
Trine secured an automatic berth after winning the regional title, earning its place among the nation’s elite. Calvin University and Hope College will join the Thunder in Spartanburg as at-large selections after finishing second and third, respectively, at the NCAA regional meet.
