MIAA Athlete of the Week - December 29, 2025

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced its Athletes of the Week for the period covering December 22-28. Each week throughout the academic year, the conference recognizes standout performances from student-athletes across its member institutions.

The MIAA Athlete of the Week honors are selected from nominations submitted by head coaches at each school. These awards spotlight the top individual efforts in competition and showcase the high level of play within the conference.

Selections are released every Monday at 4:00 p.m., with the exception of weeks impacted by federal holidays.


MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week - Mike Okello, The University of Olivet
Sophomore center Mike Okello played a key role in keeping the Comets within four points at Rose-Hulman on Tuesday. Okello finished with 16 points, four assists, two steals, and six rebounds while shooting an efficient 8-of-10 (.800) from the field.

MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week - Meghan Trewhella, Albion College
Junior guard Meghan Trewhella helped lead Albion to a 71-49 victory over Whitworth on Monday at the Hoops in Hawaii Classic. Trewhella scored 22 points in 30 minutes while shooting 10-of-12 (.833) from the field and 2-of-2 at the free-throw line. She earned All-Tournament honors after guiding the Brits to a 2-0 record in Hawaii and averaging 20 points per game. Trewhella currently leads the MIAA with 92 field goals, 233 points, 21.2 points per game, and a .561 field-goal percentage.
