Brett Wetzel Named MIAA Coach of the Year After Historic Season for Bulldogs

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Adrian College head coach Brett Wetzel has been named the 2025 MIAA Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year after guiding the Bulldogs to their best conference finish in a decade.

Wetzel, who just completed his seventh season at the helm, led Adrian to an 11-7 overall record and a 5-1 mark in conference play, securing the No. 2 seed in the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament for the first time since 2015.

"This season presented some new challenges for myself and we would not have been able to accomplish the things that we did without my staff, assistant coaches Kyle Hibbard and Carey Smith, or this great group of seniors," commented Wetzel. "I appreciate all that they were able to help with as we set new heights for Adrian College Lacrosse."

Under his leadership, six Bulldogs earned All-MIAA honors for the 2025 season. Among them were two standouts: Michael Jonas, who was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Year, and Cameron Reed, who earned MIAA Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

Wetzel's recognition reflects a season marked by competitive excellence, team growth, and individual achievement -- cementing his impact on the program and setting the stage for continued success in the years to come.
