Strong Finishes: MIAA Men Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Indoor Championships

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- A trio of student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) received national recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following their performances at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama.

Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top eight of their respective individual events and relays earned First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th individually and ninth or 10th as part of a relay received Second-Team All-America recognition.

Calvin University

Calvin sophomore Abe VanDuinen secured First-Team All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the 800m run. VanDuinen crossed the line in 1:51.62 to cap a strong national showing for the Knights.

The University of Olivet

Olivet junior Owen Fremeau delivered one of the top field-event performances among MIAA competitors at the national meet, earning First-Team All-America recognition in two events.

Fremeau placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 19.21m and followed with a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 17.83m, collecting two First-Team All-America honors.

Trine University

Trine senior Braden Estep earned Second-Team All-America honors in the 200m dash after finishing 16th with a time of 21.89.

The performances highlighted the depth of talent across the MIAA, as athletes from multiple programs secured All-America recognition against the nation’s top Division III competitors at the indoor national championship meet.
