Calvin Captures 2026 MIAA Men’s Golf Championship as All-Conference Honors Are Announced

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has concluded the 2025-26 men’s golf season with Calvin University capturing the conference championship and leading a field of outstanding student-athletes recognized with All-MIAA honors. The season featured four fall jamborees and a two-day, 36-hole Spring Finale, culminating in a tightly contested race for the conference crown.

Calvin secured the MIAA championship with a season-best average of 294.00. The title marks Calvin’s first MIAA championship since 2021 and the fifth in program history. The Knights’ consistent play throughout the season, combined with an exceptional Spring Finale performance, delivered another milestone season for the program. Calvin posted the low team score of the Spring Finale at 576, highlighted by senior Jack Marzolino’s impressive rounds of 70 and 68. Marzolino’s strong finish earned him First Team All-MIAA recognition after placing among the league’s top six individual performers for the season.

Trine University finished second overall with a 295.00 average, followed closely by Hope College at 297.50. Adrian College (309.83), Albion College (310.00), Kalamazoo College (313.83), Alma College (316.00), and The University of Olivet (327.67) rounded out the final team standings.

Most Valuable Golfer: Matt Turcotte, Calvin

Calvin senior Matt Turcotte has been named the MIAA Most Valuable Golfer after delivering one of the conference’s most consistent performances across all six events of the season. Turcotte opened the year with rounds of 72, 73, 72, and 72 through the four fall jamborees before continuing his strong play at the Spring Finale with a 70 on day one. He closed the regular-season with a 75, securing the overall body of work necessary to claim the conference’s top individual honor.

Turcotte’s reliability and steady low scoring were instrumental in Calvin’s championship run and helped position the Knights atop the conference standings throughout the year.

Sportsmanship Award: Ryan Knitter, Albion

Albion senior Ryan "Ryno" Knitter has been selected as the recipient of the MIAA Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes a junior or senior who demonstrates outstanding ethical conduct and sportsmanship in the game of golf. Each conference coach nominates one eligible student-athlete, with the final selection determined through a vote of opposing teams.

Knitter’s recognition by his peers reflects his integrity, respect for the game, and commitment to the values that define MIAA competition.
