HOLLAND, Mich. -- Calvin University secured its second-consecutive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship Presented by Collegiate Credit Union and 32nd title in program history, totaling 258 points to finish ahead of Hope College (234) and Trine University (151) in one of the most competitive and record-breaking championship meets in conference history.
The championship opened with a historic heptathlon performance from Hope’s Jaidyn Klimp, who shattered the MIAA record with 4,810 points, eclipsing the previous record of 3,976 set in 2025. Hope’s Eliana Kotsonis placed second (4,028), while Calvin’s Ella Easterling finished third (3,971).
In the shot put, Calvin’s RyAnn Rohrer claimed the conference title with a throw of 13.31m, followed by teammate Ella Easterling in second (12.36m) and The University of Olivet’s Brooke Jankwietz in third (11.41m).
Adrian College’s Alysia Townsend won the long jump at 5.76m, with Calvin’s Julienne Strydom placing second (5.57m) and Trine’s Brooklyn Kerry third (5.42m).
Albion College’s Morgan Hurd captured the hammer throw championship with a mark of 46.07m, while Hope’s Sophia Raymond (44.14m) and Olivet’s Lily Russel (43.74m) rounded out the top three.
Trine’s Olivia Andrews earned the pole vault title by clearing 3.55m, followed by Adrian’s Carly Sicilia (3.20m) and Calvin’s Laura Robotham (3.10m).
Calvin’s Sophie Bull delivered one of the meet’s signature performances in the steeplechase, setting a new MIAA record of 10:39.05. Hope’s Molly Durow placed second (10:57.92), and Calvin’s Ayla Holben finished third (11:06.85).
Hope’s Anna Sybenga claimed the 10,000m run title in 37:06.01, narrowly defeating Trine’s Chloe Goodrich (37:08.77) and Grace Dubsky (37:13.05).
In the triple jump, Calvin’s Dasha Mason broke the MIAA record with a leap of 11.76m, edging Trine’s Brooklyn Kerry (11.74m), while Calvin’s Julienne Strydom placed third (11.49m).
Trine’s Hannah Flores Ness and Calvin’s Caralee Schipper tied in the high jump at 1.62m, with Flores Ness earning first on attempts. Hope’s Jaidyn Klimp finished third (1.59m).
Klimp added another championship in the javelin with a throw of 35.19m, followed by Olivet’s Aubrey Connelly (32.83m) and Hope’s Karly Roelofs (31.59m).
Rohrer continued her dominant meet by winning the discus at 43.93m, while Hope’s Kamryn Bice and Alma’s Sarah Krupa tied for second at 38.23m.
Calvin’s 4x100m relay team of Rayn Rutley, Kaitlyn DiMaggio, Alison Bailey, and Sydney Radigan set an MIAA record at 47.00, ahead of Hope (47.54) and Trine (48.93).
Trine’s Bailey Puckett won the 1500m run title in 4:39.68, followed closely by Kalamazoo College’s Ava King (4:40.13) and Hope’s Molly Durow (4:40.91).
Calvin swept the 100m hurdles podium, led by Mia DeJonge (14.40), Cadence Drougal (14.47), and Abby Lambers (14.84).
Hope’s Sara Schermerhorn captured the 400m dash title in 56.39, while teammate Jaidyn Klimp was second (58.12) and Calvin’s Alison Bailey third (58.14).
Sydney Radigan then set another MIAA record in the 100m dash at 11.64, with Hope’s Sofia Fisher (11.96) and Schermerhorn (12.07) following.
Trine’s Bailey Puckett secured her second individual title in the 800m run (2:15.39), while Kalamazoo’s Ava King (2:16.11) and Hope’s Amanda Markham (2:17.27) completed the top three.
Calvin’s Abby Lambers won the 400m hurdles in 1:04.02, ahead of Hope’s Savana Monville (1:04.80) and Calvin’s Annika DeJong (1:07.34).
Radigan completed her sprint double in the 200m dash, breaking another MIAA record in 23.68. Hope’s Sara Schermerhorn (24.27) and Sofia Fisher (24.69) finished second and third.
Sophia Bull secured her second distance title in the 5000m, setting another MIAA record at 17:01.50. Hope’s Olivia Ippel (17:11.84) and Mary England (17:21.87) followed.
Hope closed the championship with a victory in the 4x400m relay, as Jaidyn Klimp, Frances Cozzens, Savana Monville, and Sara Schermerhorn combined for a time of 3:56.02. Calvin placed second (4:02.18), and Trine finished third (4:03.36).
When the final points were tallied, Calvin’s exceptional depth and record-setting performances secured the championship, while Hope’s star power and Trine’s middle-distance excellence kept the team race highly competitive.
The NCAA selection show is scheduled for May 17, with qualifying athletes advancing to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 21-23 at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
